Thermostat

A thermostat is a controller that regulates a heat source to a set temperature, preventing an enclosure from overheating — essential safety equipment for any heat lamp or heat mat.

Without one, a heat source can cook an animal or cause burns. Reptile keepers use thermostats to hold the basking or warm-zone temperature steady and safe, day and night.
