Brumation
Brumation is a reptile's version of hibernation — a cool-season slow-down where it becomes inactive and stops eating in response to shorter, cooler days.
It's normal for temperate species (bearded dragons, many tortoises and temperate snakes) and should only happen in a healthy, good-weight adult. Tropical species shouldn't brumate. A thinning or sick animal that goes quiet is NOT brumating — that's a vet call.
