Photoperiod
Photoperiod is the daily length of light vs dark a reptile gets — usually set to roughly 12 hours on / 12 off, and adjusted seasonally for species that brumate.
A consistent day/night cycle supports feeding, activity and breeding rhythms. Lights should be off at night (no coloured "night bulbs" — reptiles can see them and it disrupts sleep); use a non-light heat source if night heat is needed.
