Mouth rot

Also called: Infectious stomatitis

Mouth rot (infectious stomatitis) is a bacterial infection of the mouth — swelling, redness, or a cheesy yellow discharge around the gums — that needs veterinary treatment.

It often follows stress, injury or poor husbandry. If you see swelling or discharge in the mouth, it's a "see a vet" sign — not something to treat at home.
